What kind of occupation do you want? In the last 10 years, various things have been mechanized, the internet environment has changed, and the use of AI has advanced.
スマホで好きな時に好きな映画や音楽を見たり聞いたりもできますし、インターネットで買物も自由になりました。スーパーに行ってもセルフレジになったり、旅行の予約方法や、決済方法など、色々なことが変わりました。
You can enjoy your favorite movies and music whenever you like on your smartphone, and you can freely shop online. A variety of things have changed, such as self-checkout at a supermarket, travel booking, and payment methods.
これが今までの10年でした。しかし、これからの10年は、さらに大きな変化が起きることでしょう。
This was the recent decade. But in the next decade, even greater changes will take place.
その中で、今、人がしている仕事がロボットなどで自動化され、消える仕事が多くあると言われています。また人の寿命が延び、100歳まで生きる人も多くなると言われています。そして、20代に大学等の学校で身に着けた知識を、その後60歳まで使いつづけ定年を迎えるような時代は終わったと言われています。
And it is also said that people’s lifespan will be extended and more people will live to 100 years old. The time has ended in which people acquire some specific skills and knowledge in one’s twenties, and use the skill until the age of retirement around 60.
では、こうした大きな変化を迎える今、私たちはどのようなスキルをつけておくことが必要でしょう。スキルは知識のようなハードスキルと、創造性や分析力といったソフトスキルがあります。言語で言えば、文法や語彙の知識はハードスキル。一方、効果的なコミュニケーションを取り、問題解決に導く、あるいは人とつながりチームを作る能力は、ソフトスキルと言えます。
Now, with these spectacular changes, what skills do we need to acquire? Skills can divide “hard skills” such as knowledge, and “soft skills” such as creativity and analytical skills.
As for language, grammar and vocabulary knowledge are “hard skills”. On the other hand, the ability to communicate effectively, lead to problem-solving, or form a team with others are “soft skills”.
