着物は「着る」と「物」という二つの言葉からできています。
Kimono wa ”kiru” to ”mono”to iu futatsu no kotoba kara dekite imasu.
The word “KIMONO” comes from 2 words, “kiru” and “mono”.
「着る」の意味は、英語で「Wear」です。
”kiru” no imi wa eigo de “Wear” desu.
”kiru” means ” to wear” in English.
「物」の意味は、英語で「Thing」です。
”mono” no imi wa eigo de “Thing” desu.
”mono” means ” Thing(s)” in English.
つまり、もともとの「着物」の意味は服のことでした。
Thus, originally, Kimono means clothes.
しかし、今は、「着物」は、日本の伝統的な服の意味で使います。
shikashi ima wa “kimono” wa nihon no dentootekina fuku no imi de tsukaimasu.
But, Nowadays, Kimono means traditional Japanese clothes.
T-シャツやジーンズは「着物」とは言いません。服または洋服です。
T-syatsu ya jiinzu wa kimono towa iimasen. “fuku” matawa “yoofuku” desu.
T-shirt and Jeans etc… are not called as kimono . These are called “fuku(Clothes )” or “yoofuku(Westan Clothes)” .
